Frog Skin camouflage, was one of the earliest mass-produced military camouflage patterns and was developed by the United States during the early years of the Second World War. Introduced in 1942, the pattern featured a distinctive “duck spot” design with large organic shapes intended to provide concealment in jungle, tropical, and beach environments. Produced as a reversible camouflage with a green jungle side and a lighter beach side, it saw use by U.S. forces including the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre and Army units during operations such as Normandy. Although eventually phased out due to concerns over friendly identification and evolving camouflage needs, Duck Camo later influenced numerous military patterns worldwide and remains highly recognisable among collectors, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts.
